INTERNET CONNECTION DIAGNOSIS

Checking the driver for the network adapter:
1.) Click Start > My Computer > Control Panel
(Control Panel should be located on left in the My Computer window.)


2.) In the Control Panel window, select System > navigate to the Hardware tab >
then select Device Manager.


3.) When the Device Manager window appears, locate the line titled Network
Network Adapters. (If there is no line titled Network Adapters, this indicates that
The driver is not installed properly.)


4.) Select Network Adapters and check to see if there is any hardware devices
installed in this section.


5.) If a hardware device can be found in this section, check to see if it is enabled.
(Right click on the device. If there is no option to enable the device and only the
option to disable the device, this indicates the device is already enabled.)


Checking the Network Connection configuration:


1.) Click Start > My Computer > Control Panel
(Control Panel should be located on left in the My Computer window.)


2.) In the Control Panel window, select Network Connections.


3.) If you’re trying to connect wirelessly, there should be a WAN connection listed.
If your computer is connected directly to a modem, there should be a LAN
connection listed.


4.) Verify that your connection is enabled, connected and working properly. To do
this, right click your connection and select status. When the status window
appears, verify that it is listed as being connected and that there is no option
available to enable the connection.
(If there is only the option to disable the connection, this indicates that the
connection is already enabled.)


5.) If you receive a message from your network connection stating that you have
limited or no connectivity, this indicates an issue with your cable/dsl modem,
wireless network adapter or wireless router.


(First contact the manufacturer of the wireless router or network adapter for
technical support help with the network adapter driver or the wireless router
configuration. If these devices are working properly, then contact your internet
service provider for technical support help for your cable/dsl modem.)


Checking the web browser configuration:


Internet Explorer:


1.) Click Tools > Internet Options > select the Connections tab > click LAN.


2.) Verify that there is a check mark in the box next the Automatically Detect
Settings option.


Mozilla Firefox


1.) Click Tools > Options > select the Advanced tab > click Settings.


2.) Verify that there is a check mark in the box next to the Auto-detect Proxy Settings
for this Network option.


Repairing the connection manually:


1.) Click Start > select Run.


2.) In the Run window, type cmd


3.) When the DOS Command window appears, type ipconfig/release


4.) When the previous command is done loading, type ipconfig/renew


5.) When the previous command is done loading, open the web browser to check
for an established connection.
